In sparring, when we are lowering our bodies and applying “Chudan Gyaku Tsuki” for attacking, our distance and power can be slightly improved by leaning forward a little bit. However, excessive leaning to gain further distance advantage will be detrimental to your attack and must be avoided, because :-
1. Your head will be so close to your opponent that you will be hit first easily.
2. Your excessive waist bending movement will weaken your hitting power.
3. Your front leg will become very heavy (due to body weight shifting to the front) so that your footwork will be very clumsy after the attack.
4. Your improper form and incorrect distance will make you lose the score.
